Is It Sensible To Order Coffee Online?

By Bart Forcey

Gone are the days where the only place you could buy a special blend or rare stock of coffee beans was at the super high priced specialty stores. Now you don't have to bother with going out to buy that rich aromatic bag of freshly ground coffee. You can order coffee online whenever you want without leaving the house or office and have it delivered right to your doorstep!

With coffee being the second largest export in the world with only petroleum ahead of it, it is difficult to remember that most people are not aware that coffee beans are in fact not beans! Yes, that is right, coffee beans are not beans. It is the two-part pit of the coffee cherry like fruit that actually that looks like beans due to the two flat sides of the pit that gives the impression that they are beans.

There are indeed hundreds of flavors you can treat yourself to when you order coffee online. It is wise to note that although there are so many flavors available, it does not mean there are so many types of coffee beans. There are just two types of coffee plants, Arabica Coffee and Coffee Robusta, which are used to grow coffee for the use by the commercial coffee trade of which the Arabica Coffee plant supply 75% of the global coffee bean demand.

During your initial investigation for buying coffee online, you get so caught up with the abundance of descriptions of all the available blends, it almost seems if you are there in person in one of those exclusive coffee houses where the aroma of strong freshly grounded roast coffee tickle your nose. Fortunately, by smelling it, you get a good idea on how it will taste like; that is now if you can get yourself to combine your smell and taste sensations. When you order coffee online, you do not have the smell of the blend to provide you with an idea of the taste.

Most of these shops where you order coffee online are very particular about the product they make available and therefore search all over the world for the best coffee beans they can find. Many suppliers purchase green coffee beans and roast them onsite immediately before shipping to ensure the finest quality.

In order to preserve the freshness of the roasted coffee, most merchants ship via overnight or two day mail. As a further way of enticing customer, many online coffee suppliers give substantial discounts with your first online coffee order and have reward programs in place for regular customers.

When you order coffee online, it would be safe to say that you are probably looking for blends that you just can't find in your regular supermarket. Even if you had access to a retail specialty shop, you'd expect to pay premium prices. That is where online shopping shines, you have the luxury of shopping around for the lowest price, which will generally be well bleow what you'd have to pay at a retail establishment.
